FAQ

Is Jetpack free?

Yes! Jetpack’s core features are and always will be free.

These include: site stats, a high-speed CDN for images, related posts, downtime monitoring, brute force attack protection, automated sharing to social networks, sidebar customisation, and many more.

Should I purchase a paid plan?

Jetpack’s paid services include real-time backups, security scanning, premium themes, spam filtering, video hosting, site monetisation, SEO tools, search, priority support, and more.

To learn more about the essential security and WordPress services we provide, visit our plan comparison page.

Why do I need a WordPress.com account?

Since Jetpack and its services are provided and hosted by WordPress.com, a WordPress.com account is required for Jetpack to function.

I already have a WordPress account, but Jetpack isn’t working. What’s going on?

A WordPress.com account is different from the account you use to log into your self-hosted WordPress. If you can log into WordPress.com, then you already have a WordPress.com account. If you can’t, you can easily create one during installation.

How do I view my stats?

Once you’ve installed Jetpack your stats will be available on WordPress.com/Stats, on the official WordPress mobile apps, and on your Jetpack dashboard.

How do I contribute to Jetpack?

There are opportunities for developers at all levels to contribute. Learn more about contributing to Jetpack or consider joining our beta program.

I consider myself an experienced WordPress user/developer and after a bit of research I stumble upon the iOS App, wanted to try it out, apparently had to install Jetpack on a store? Was bugged by the fact that I have to do a lot of data sharing with WordPress.com for such a basic functionality, I only need the app to work, I don’t need the CDN (very slow, prefer not to use it), don’t need the tons of ads to different features, don’t like the fact that I’m redirected to WordPress.com after activating, was totally confused actually wrote “what the heck” when I was asked if I want to recommend this plugin… !? I haven’t even used it yet! Please consider separating the WooCommerce part from JetPack to a stand-alone module, yes it adds a lot of features, but for 99% of the stores out there they don’t need sharing features, analytics to be stored outside their server, back-up when all hosting providers provide backups, etc. On top of that, I did some measures, it adds around 10-30 queries in the WP Admin, on a bare-bone WooCommerce installation, this is not OK for growing stores, each query means more time spent processing in the server, on shared hosting this can be a very big impact — this is why people think JetPack slows their websites, because it adds (indeed) some load (as any plugin does) to the website.

As Online Professionals, I build approx 5-8 websites per month. And Jetpack is my must needed plugin for every website. You can check the number and active installations. Jetpack will help you to make your website faster, it also helps you for marketing, backup, security and lots of things integrated with Jetpack. I highly recommend to every website !!
