Not thought to development nor testing sites

This has to be the worst plugin in WordPress to have normal setup and use. I'm rebuilding my entire site where I used Jetpack. First the development was on my local PC and jetpack will not allow you to setup anything or connect. So... I moved it to a sub-domain which today as I'm nearing completion and doing final QA before moving to my permanent domain. But no... Jetpack doesn't allow that either No sub-domains. Every other plugin allows you to install, configure and login if necessary when you are in development or test. How do they expect you to make sure your site is functioning correctly? I guess they don't
