Welcome to the Themes team!

We are a group of volunteers who review and approve themes submitted to be included in the official WordPress Theme directory.

We do license, security, and code quality reviews.

Code reviews are a great way to learn more about developing themes and improving your own skills.

Handbooks and review requirements

The team maintains the official Theme Review Requirements, the Theme Unit Test Data, and helps the documentation team with the Theme Developer Handbook.

Coding standards and plugins

We maintain the WPThemeReview Standard for PHP_CodeSniffer, the Theme Sniffer plugin and Theme Check

Code Packages

We have code packages for themes available for use on Github and Packagist

Theme review team (TRT) conducts a meeting on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month. Along with the fixed agendas, we have open floor meeting at the end where you can ask or share anything related to themes.

We encourage all members and anyone interested to attend.

GithubGitHub GitHub is a website that offers online implementation of git repositories that can can easily be shared, copied and modified by other developers. Public repositories are free to host, private repositories require a paid subscription. GitHub introduced the concept of the ‘pull request’ where code changes done in branches by contributors can be reviewed and discussed before being merged be the repository owner. https://github.com/ review workflow feedback.

I unfortunately cannot attend the meeting, but I wonder if folks could get eyes on this block editor ticket during the open floor. Hey team! I’d like to bring to the discussion of different theme authors for the same brand. I have discussed this with a member from the theme review and I was informed that Theme authors are abusing this and creating multiple accounts on purpose just to spread their domains. This is not the case for me, as I’ve been running a brand with a partner and I sent a theme to the review team using my account, although he has submitted one using his account In the past.

Would it be possible to create any guidelines for this?

Maybe two people from the same company would be allowed to submit themes? Just an idea.
