Task Updates

Marketing and Communications Campaign for Learn WordPress

Update from the task groups by: @webcommsat and @nalininonstopnewsuk

  • As there are a lot of countries with Covid announcements this week, we have delayed some of our planned Learn WordPress promotions to be sensitive to this and to respond to contributors involved. If you can help with this while some of our contributors are dealing with Covid situations, please let @meher know.
  • Video subtitling of polyglots and Learn WordPress promotions continues and is taking a little longer to do due to YouTube’s updates to its studio editing environment. If you can help with this, please let us know. It is really important items are subtitled and synchronized correctly by time.
  • Thanks to @geheren who will be helping us with editing some of the video materials we have for Learn WordPress promotions.
  • Graphic editing – we have a backlog of items for Learn and other teams. If you have skills in this area and can edit for social media sizes, please let us know.
  • Please read this post to see some of the different ways you can help promote Learn WordPress.

➤ How can I help?

  • @webcommsat has been working with @annezazu on promoting the FSE-experiment outreach.
  • As the publishing cycle continues, we will start work on:
    • Newsletter for WordPress Meetups
    • Month in WordPress January 2021
    • Q4 Updates
    • Updates in general
    • Learn WordPress highlights for promotion

Onboarding Videos

Update via co-ordinating team member: @webcommsat for @oglekler

  • Thanks to all who have helped create on-boarding videos in different languages. Take a look at the Marketing YouTube channel for all the videos in different languages.
  • For the Hindi version, thanks to @yashwardhanrana who has been working to sync the audio and video together, and thanks to @rahuldsarker who helped with this task earlier.

WordCamp Sevilla 2020

Update from co-ordinating team member: @lmurillom

  • @vimes1984 and @lmurillom attended WordCamp Sevilla, at the Marketing and Training tables respectively, from December 26-29 2020. It was an event focused entirely on contributing, and there was very high attendance and engagement during the four day event.
  • There was a call for the Spanish marketing team to attend any of the global marketing meetings or coffee breaks. Larissa Murillo, Chris Churchill, Nilo Velez and others from the global marketing team will be monitoring and participating in the WP Spain SlackSlack Slack is a Collaborative Group Chat Platform https://slack.com/. The WordPress community has its own Slack Channel at https://make.wordpress.org/chat/. to see where there are further opportunities for cross team collaboration and information sharing.
  • The Training table was on the last day of the event, and Larissa attended for both Marketing and Training Teams. She was able to support the cross-team effort on Learn WordPress as a fluent Spanish speaker.
    • Most of the questions and content revolved around the Learn WordPress launch. There was a lot of interests regarding:
      • when it will be available in Spanish, submission of workshops
      • the Translation table was eager to know when and how they can help with adding captions in Spanish to the currently available workshops
      • the AccessibilityAccessibility Accessibility (commonly shortened to a11y) refers to the design of products, devices, services, or environments for people with disabilities. The concept of accessible design ensures both “direct access” (i.e. unassisted) and “indirect access” meaning compatibility with a person’s assistive technology (for example, computer screen readers). (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accessibility) table also made themselves available to explain what needs to be taken into account
    • During the event, there was also work done adding to the Questions and Answers on Learn WordPress and the collaboration produced by @webcommsat and @sthakor into Spanish, considered tasks outlined by @courane01 and talked about what’s in store for Learn WordPress
  • Many people were interested in the Learn WordPress initiative, in what the Training team does, and also willing to participate. Thanks to @courane01 and @azhiyadev for their support and preparation work beforehand. Many thanks and congratulations to @nilovelez and the organising team for such a successful event.
