Digital Content Producer at NewsNation on WGN America. Huge fan of all things WordPress. Looking for ways to get involved in the community. Contributes to: Documentation (:bee:-docs team) & Training teams. Also beginning to try out Marketing & Core (bug gardening).

WordPress Origin Story

I believe I started using WordPress as a “kid journalist” with the Scholastic Kids Press Corps in the U.S. in 2008. It was such a cool experience as a middle school-age student to use this platform and have it accessible to the world. In high school, I moved out print newspaper to a custom built WordPress version. I may have broken the code a few times in the process, but eventually we did well and won a national award for our site in the first year. As my professional life has taken off, I have worked for five years at Nexstar Media Group in digital journalism. We are a WPVIP customer and love that I still get to the the platform on a daily basis.
