ગુટેનબર્ગ

વર્ણન

“Gutenberg” is a codename for a whole new paradigm in WordPress site building and publishing, that aims to revolutionize the entire publishing experience as much as Gutenberg did the printed word. Right now, the project is in the first phase of a four-phase process that will touch every piece of WordPress — Editing, Customization, Collaboration, and Multilingual — and is focused on a new editing experience, the block editor.

The block editor introduces a modular approach to pages and posts: each piece of content in the editor, from a paragraph to an image gallery to a headline, is its own block. And just like physical blocks, WordPress blocks can added, arranged, and rearranged, allowing WordPress users to create media-rich pages in a visually intuitive way — and without work-arounds like shortcodes or custom HTML.

The block editor first became available in December 2018, and we’re still hard at work refining the experience, creating more and better blocks, and laying the groundwork for the next three phases of work. The Gutenberg plugin gives you the latest version of the block editor so you can join us in testing bleeding-edge features, start playing with blocks, and maybe get inspired to build your own.

How can I send feedback or get help with a bug?

We’d love to hear your bug reports, feature suggestions and any other feedback! Please head over to the GitHub issues page to search for existing issues or open a new one. While we’ll try to triage issues reported here on the plugin forum, you’ll get a faster response (and reduce duplication of effort) by keeping everything centralized in the GitHub repository.

What’s Next for the Project?

The four phases of the project are Editing, Customization, Collaboration, and Multilingual. You can hear more about the project and phases from Matt in his State of the Word talks for 2019 and 2018. Additionally you can follow updates in the Make WordPress Core blog.

It is for sure the right direction, Gutenberg is headed and brought a lot of smart changes under the hood. The editor itself still has a few issues and UX is not as straight forward as I would wish, but it is already better than the old editor and the block concept will help wordpress evolve and stay relevant in years to come. What I think come use some better UX: Moving blocks: On the page, into other groups, to other pages. Drag and drop does not always do what I would expect it to do. Groups: Seeing which block is in which group is not that easy. Maybe there could be a way to draw borders around groups or something like that. Reusable Blocks: This is great, but sometimes I need childs of those reusable blocks which have some changes (e.g. in content), but otherwise keep the link to the parent. Block settings: For some of the standard blocks, I'm just missing settings for customization. I guess that is something that will come naturally. Great job, you're heading in the right direction. Thanks for all the hard work and ignore the hate against change.

I can understand that nobody likes change but for heavens sake, some of these review are completely and utterly unfair. If you really hate it that much, just install the Classic Editor plugin. It takes minutes. As a piece of software itself, Gutenberg is solid in terms of how it's been developed, and how extensible it is. I did the Gutenberg modules for a very popular plugin, and it was a pleasure to integrate with. It degrades peacefully, and for any newcomers, it's much more intuitive to use than the classic editors non-standard workflows which are muddied even further by various plugins different approaches to doing things. The sheer number of sites running "page builder" plugins should give you a good indicator that it really was high time WordPress moved on from the classic editor, which is even older than YouTube. Good on WordPress for making a concrete effort to stay relevant. Some of the reviewers here would be wise to also do that.

I think most of the 1 star reviews must come from people who don't like change and just want to keep using the old editor. I felt like that for a while, but I took some time to learn Gutenberg and now I love it, so much more flexible and yes intuitive once you understand the basics. Thanks guys for all your hard work! 🙂

I WANT HIS NAME. Who's even worse idea is to force us to use it? I WANT HIS NAME TOO. IT'S AWFUL. LEAVE US ALONE TO DO OUR OWN THING.
