Online event
Join us and get help with your development project for the WordPress block editor, be it plugin or theme or tool.
Developer Hours are a new event series, geared towards WordPress developers.
You will be able to discuss with three expert panelists any topic around building blocks, using create-block, building themes, build other tools for the block editor.
We start out with an introduction of the panelists, and then we tackle the topics coming from your questions/answers upon registration.
Bring your questions questions, share code, demo features, and get advice from the expert panel. It would be helpful to send them in with your registration, so our panelist can be prepared a bit.
You can sign up now. We will post about our panelists, the topics, and the zoom link, when we get closer to the event.
From the first event, we learn, people would like to be able to revisit the event and a recording will be made. It will be available afterwards with a shared resources document.
PS: The discussions can become quite technical and there might be code in this event.- Birgit P.

- Honey, I Broke My Website! What To Do When Site Editing Goes Wrong
Have you been experimenting with a block theme and the site editor--only to discover things have gone horribly wrong?
Have you edited your website, only for your post or page to show nothing at all?
Did you pick a color, change your mind, and realize you weren't sure where to go to fix it?
If so, you're not alone!
Join me for this beginner-level ride-along as we explore some of the common pitfalls in full site editing--and what you can do when you discover you've accidentally broken something.
In this ride-along workshop, will cover...
-How to recover deleted theme blocks
-How to determine where a user's preference might be
-How to reset a template to its default (when things go REALLY wrong!)
-Where to find help when you're totally suck
We will be using a broken theme as a basis for this conversation; the idea is that this session will be a group exploration of this topic rather than a top-down webinar, so if you like a good puzzle, this social learning space is for you.

- Builder Basics: Designing with Columns, Group, and Row Blocks
In this social learning space, we’ll explore how to design layouts using the Columns, Group, and Row blocks. These blocks represent the fundamental building blocks of every WordPress website. You’ll learn the nuances of each block type and how to configure them correctly. Join us for an interactive presentation followed by a group Q&A.
**Learning Objectives**
* Understand the differences between the Columns, Group, and Row blocks
* Understand when to use each block to achieve a specific layout
* Understand the different settings available on each block
* Feel comfortable designing layouts in both the Editor and Site Editor with these blocks
**What is Builder Basics?**
The WordPress Editor is a blank canvas that allows us to express our creativity and design beautiful layouts using blocks. However, building with blocks is a paradigm shift to traditional website design. Sometimes it can be challenging to know where to start, especially in the context of Full Site Editing.
In the “Builder Basics” series, we’ll attempt to demystify components of the building experience. From a deep dive into the Query block to an exploration of block alignment and spacing, you’ll learn to master the basics of modern WordPress design. While some familiarity with the Editor is recommended, these sessions are designed for all skill levels and require virtually no coding.
